Image input:

Any image format recognized by Matlab can be read, as well as .avi movies. The CIVX software requires black and white .png files as input, but these are automatically created if another format is introduced. For intensive processing, it is however recommanded to keep the images in the .png format.

The software works with three different kinds of image series:

• Simple image series, labeled by an image index i.
• Series of image pairs, or more generally of image 'bursts' containing more than two images. Image correlation is then performed between any image pair chosen inside a burst.
• Series for 3D imaging , obtained by a periodic scanning of a laser sheet. The images are labeled by two indices, i for the time, and j for the position of the slice.

Simple periodic image series are provided by numerical camcorders or standard camera systems. The more advanced image series are readily provided by the acquisition system 'acquix' .
