Copy the whole directory UVMAT and the directory of binary files CIVX according to the instructions in the text file UVMAT/README_INSTALL.txt. It requires Matlab, release 13 or more recent. Some functions require the 'image processing toolbox' (which itself requires the 'signal processing toolbox'). Reading and writing velocity fields requires the toolbox for netcdf files, which can be freely downloaded from http://www.unidata.ucar.edu/packages/netcdf. To check whether it is correctly installed type 'ncbrowser' on your matlab prompt: you should get a browser menu.
To run the examples of this tutorial, copy the directory UV_DEMO on your computer, with writing access. Reading .avi movies requires the availability of a codec on the computer, which is the case for instance if a fire wire port is installed (this can be problematic with the Linux system). Nevertheless you can still run this demo without avi codec.
